Requirement: A UK National building society employed many contractors mainly within its Information Technology departments. An on-line procedural system was required to help IT project managers to understand all aspects of the recruitment and termination processes.
In order to receive sufficient funding for building such a system, a functional design specification was commissioned.
Solution: Detailed requirements were evaluated and various system models were built to check on conceptual feasibility.
Once the basic concept had been agreed by all parties, the functional design specification was written primarily as an on-line document with restricted access via the society’s intra-net.
The publication explained both the business practices and how the IT elements would support all current needs.
Benefit: Current issues were addressed and as the design had a modular foundation, future needs could also be considered with similar integration.
